Singapore Airlines will allow you to check between 30 and 35 kilograms of luggage at no additional cost, depending on your fare bucket. When flying in economy class, elite KrisFlyer members are given an extra allowance.

Both Singapore Airlines and Emirates make a big deal about their in-flight food and drink as long-haul airlines. In economy class, Emirates promises a multicourse meal as well as free fruit juices, soft drinks, wines, beers, and spirits. For a charge, real champagne is eligible.

Singapore Airlines is in a similar situation. The airline is well-known for its excellent in-flight catering. You can choose from a variety of meals, and drinks are complimentary. If your jetlagged body clock tells you it's lunchtime, flight attendants are normally pleased to find you a midnight snack.

Both airlines allow you to pre-order special meals, and experienced travelers know that doing so sometimes results in a better meal than what the rest of the passengers are served.

Overall, it's a fairly even match in terms of in-flight catering.

On Singapore Airlines jets, personal LCD displays with handheld control units are 10.6 inches in size. In addition, each seat has a USB port.

ICE has received several Skytrax awards for its best-in-class features and has been voted the best in the industry for many years in a row. The entertainment provided by Emirates is truly exceptional. In addition, most economy seats have easy-to-reach power outlets.
